Whataya Want From Me

When it comes to music, I’m terrible for being really quick to judge a song. I’ll make my opinion of it within the first five seconds and if I don’t like it, then that’s it. Generally, if a song has more than 5-7 seconds of instrumentals at the beginning rather than lyrics, I get annoyed. I’m a picky person, and that’s why for the longest time I hated the song Whataya Want From Me by Adam Lambert. So much that I would change the radio when it came on. It was also because he voice in many songs bothers me (even though he is soooo hot). A close online friend of mine is obsessed with him (and is actually at his concert tonight I believe) and hated the fact that I didn’t like his music.
Recently though, I saw a picture caption on facebook that said “Thanks for loving me, ’cause you’re doing it perfectly” and I thought it was really cute. Of course, I googled it to see where it was from and low and behold it was from Whataya Want From Me. I looked through the lyrics, and many of the lines caught my eye because it reminds me a lot of the past few weeks & what David and I have been going through. Still though, I didn’t want to listen to the song because of my initial judgment of it.
I don’t think it was until the MMVA’s that I heard the full song, because I was watching them and he preformed live. I was tempted to get up and change the station, but I had no remote and I was far too lazy. So I had to listen to the full thing, and I realized that I didn’t really hate it as much as I originally thought I did. Today, I listened to it on youtube and downloaded it, something I never thought I’d do.
Now, I’m listening to it for the third time in a row. I don’t think it will become one of my obsession songs, but I also never thought I’d ever listen to the full song, let alone download it. But I did, and I’m glad that I eventually let my original judgement of the song go.
I need to stop judging things so quickly. I don’t mean people as I don’t do that nearly as much, but I tend to do it with songs, books, movies, etc. Anything that’s for your entertainment (which, is a song that I still don’t like by Adam Lambert).
I had a good night tonight though. David was supposed to leave for New York for the car show so I thought it’d be a quiet night, but his dad now has a doctors appt. tomorrow morning so they aren’t leaving until after that. I got to hang out with him, Brandon & Annie (who just got back from Hawaii today) and it was nice. Just chilling, watching Fast & Furious and eating Kit Kat Ice Cream. I’m glad I got the extra day with him

I think Adam Lambert is a very good musician, though I only have 8 or so songs. Personally I prefer “For Your Entertainment” to “Whataya Want From Me”.
I’m the opposite, I like giving things a chance. If the beginning is a bit dull I fast forward a bit and see if it gets any better. If it does, I listen from that point. If it doesn’t I keep on going until the end, hoping it will be a good song
Besides… I never like, say “UGH I HATE THAT SONG”. I just say it’s crap. x3
Yay for having time with David! (Y)

WTF, that’s crazy. They should at least check what you’re doing before they blocked you. Bah. My school would NEVER unblock Facebook for the students, though I know the school nurse goes on it when she’s meant to be working. Lawl.
Take care! xx

lol there’s a Youtube video of me somewhere singing that song… and it is NOT pretty. I really like that song (i like for your entertainment too, btw… grrr), because pink wrote it and she’s amazing.
And as long as you don’t judge people too quickly, you’re fine. There’s nothing wrong with quick opinions, as long as you don’t completely close off from possibly changing them.

Haha, true. x3
And yeah… teachers are meanies -_-
I’m about to blog so if you want something to comment on other than this wait for a bit
Take care! xx

I love that song so very much. I think Adam Lambart is a fantastic performer and has an amazing voice.
I also find him extremely attractive in that music video.
It still makes me queasy every time I think of him being gay. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to write off Adam and all his music just because of the lifestyle he has chosen. I just can’t really promote homosexuality. It really makes my stomach turn.
I’m terrible at judging things too quickly. Especially movies. I’m not so bad about judging books, but if a movie isn’t quick to impress me, it’s unlikely that I’ll enjoy the rest of it.
I’m sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment :(
I downloaded Photoshop. I’m keeping PSP because it’s easier to navigate but I want PS for the extra features

It is better than nothing, though I’m starting to regret this temporary one because I have to be in at 5:00am on a Saturday. >.<
I enjoyed reading your blog.
I found it quite interesting. I'm similar to you in the way that I judge music the first time I hear it. However most of the time, my sister likes the ones I don't so she always listens to them. After hearing them so many times they tend to grow on me and I start liking them.
Also, I can hate a song when it's big and played all of the time but then I start liking it when everyone else stops playing it, I'm probably just being awkward there.
I don't mind the song but I don't think it's one I would download, not yet anyway.

Thanks.
Yah summer is starting to make me tick. I want something new like spring or winter or something lol.
Waiting for a new episodes sucks especially when they show previews of the new one. Wait till like the end of season 1 or something that way you know that it’s all of it lol.
I love your new layout.
I like that song, it’s the only Adam Lambert song I’ve heard lol. We played with it in school a lot. Whenever someone is bugging, we just yell “WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?” it’s really funny when you do it at the right moment.
I am very picky with songs i like. I don’t listen to boy bands, i have no idea why. I will soon though because people told me about some really nice ones.
OMG Kit Kat has an ice cream?? Is it delicious??
:p

Sping is my favourite because i hate the hotness. Not too hot or cold sounds perfect.
The heat is terrible.
I hate that show lol. All they do is have sex and get pregnant. They think too much about sex. It’s not everything lol.
When i know i cant watch a certain show, i always record it lol.
Ohh i want kit kat soo bad. i haven’t had choclate in like 5 months.

I’m that to an extent. A lot of times if something is huge in the media, I’m like oh god another one of those bands and I’ll shy away from it and try not to get into the huge crowd. I did it with Lady Gaga. I hated her at first and refused to take part in her music because everyone was always talking about her and I got burnt out before I even gave her a chance. I finally heard Bad Romance and was like okay she’s not so bad afterall. Now, I love her.
I did the same thing with Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. I usually don’t like a lot of mainstream music, but those listed are exceptions and I mainly didn’t like them because I assumed they would suck before I even gave them a chance. Now, I love them! I know a lot of people hate Justin Bieber, but I will admit to liking him and admit that his tunes are very catchy regardless of him just being a teenage boy.
I’m not an Adam Lambert fan though. I was rooting for him on American Idol just because I do think he has an amazing voice and clearly has great range, but the type of music he puts out now isn’t my cup of tea. Not just because he’s popular or whatever, but I’m just not into that type of music really. I do find him talented though and he’s doing very well it seems.

I’m not that picky with my music. o.o
But I used to listen to that song when it came on… Now I don’t, because they overplayed it here. :/

This was a great blog, meredith! I’m actually quite the opposite. I always give things a chance. Even if I don’t like it the first time around, I listen to it again & again just to see if it’ll change my mind. Normally it doesn’t so I don’t try much harder.
Examples include:
Eisley
Imogen Heap – Hide & Seek
Regina Spektor – Eet
When I first listened to Eisley..I hated them sooo much. I just thought it was the shittiest thing I’ve ever heard & for some reason, my cousins really really loved them. So I just kept listening to them to see why they’d liked them so much. Lo & behold, I absolutely fell in love with them. I just started singing all of their songs & I lovedd the songs soo much just because they were all so beautiful in their own way..
My same cousins loved Hide & Seek. I hated it as well. I thought it was Imogen Heap’s worst song & I just kept listening to it because my cousin told me to & it just grew on me.
Some music, you just have to let grow on you.
I always try to give things a second or third chance before I claim that I don’t like it. I try not to say that I hate things because it’s such a powerful/strong word..so just “dislike”.
But I’m glad that you’ve decided to give Adam Lambert & possibly other musicians a chance. Instrumentals are wonderful!
It’s like building up to a good climax.
ahh kit kat ice cream!? I didn’t even know that existed. I love kit kat bars! I’m glad the two of you are doing better now as well.
P.S. I love songs with beautiful lyrics that just relate to what you’re going through. HHAHA Britney Spears’s “Unusual You” applied to Johnathan..& “Why Should I Be Sad”, “Shattered Glass”, & “Out From Under” were definitely applied to my ex.
