I’ll be your Honey Bee

Only two more shifts (adding up to 16.5 hours) to go and I am free for a week! I’m really not sure what the plans are for the majority of next week (since my mom, sister & I all have the entire week off- and my dad has the wed-friday) but I know that next Saturday (so about this time next week, I’ll already be at the bus station) at 1am I’ll be on a bus headed North. We’ll be getting there Saturday around 11:45am, and then leaving Monday morning at 7:15 to get home around 6:30pm. Thankfully, the bus has air conditioning. I am uber excited to go, not just to see N but because he’s going to show us around to a lot of places near Lake Superior, so I will get to take lots of pictures!

Speaking of pictures, I have finally got around to resizing a few pictures to update you all with. Not too many, but a few from the past few weeks and what I’ve been doing. I know they’re super small, but I didn’t want them to take too long to load/take up the entire page.

Beside You

If there’s one thing I hate more than almost anything else in the world (well, other than like.. poverty, abuse and all that fun stuff), it’s getting excited for the possibility of something when you know there’s a slim chance it will happen.

Since the end of April, I’ve been brainstorming ways that I could somehow convince my parents/sister to drive 8 and a half hours up North. For most people my reasoning is quite clear: That’s where N lives. But I couldn’t simply just say ‘Hey Mom, wanna drive me eight and a half hours to visit a boy?’ because she wouldn’t go for that. So I would try to brainstorm things we could go there, but I really didn’t know what would interest my family there. And plus, I wanted to ACTUALLY have a reason other than to just go see him, because I feel like that’s a little.. too much for not even dating (though by the sounds of it, he would be all for it…)

And then last night, my sister herself suggested it. She had this idea in her head that during our week off, she wants to visit all five great lakes and take a picture of her standing in each one. Which, is actually a cool idea and I would love to be able to say I’ve been to all five great lakes, no matter where they are. It JUST SO HAPPENS that one is located relatively close to N. As in, his city is right next to it. The river his high school was named after is connected to Lake Superior. So I was all for this plan. They were all for it too, until I ever so gently pointed out that it’s actually eight and a half hours away, not four hours like my mom thought. So that changed their mind (really, I had to point it out because they’d figure it out eventually) all while still getting my hopes up. I spent last night trying to convince my sister we should still go. Since it’s so long, we COULD take an overnight bus, be there at 11:45 in the morning, then leave that night at 7:15 and be home the next morning. We won’t need a hotel (or, as he kind of offered.. a place to stay) because we can sleep on the overnight busses. But then she said we wouldn’t have a way to the lake. Busses, walking, taxi’s, etc… (N said he could be our tour guide).

But I know the chances of it actually happening are slim. I didn’t really get my hopes up for it, and instead I just have the mindset that I know it’s not going to actually happen so if it does, it will be a surprise rather than a disappointment if/when it doesn’t. I still texted N about it, and said that my sister has a plan that she wants a picture in all five great lakes. And about how she then wanted to go. He was all for this plan, as long as she brought me with her, ha. And then he just continued to attempt to give me ways to make it work. So I’d say he’s all for it. My friend said she would go with me, but then I’m going JUST to visit him and I wanted to actually have another reason…

She did say maybe we could just go to the other lakes on the week off, and then attempt to go to Lake Superior later on in the summer. But really, there’s only a month and a half left and then he’ll be back to being a short drive away. How did the summer go by so fast? It seems like just yesterday I was dreading these four long months…

Last Kiss

I am not going back to my slacking ways, I promise. I worked all of Tuesday, then I had another two GLORIOUS days off where I spent time with friends, got a new piercing (helix on my ear.. google it, because i’m too lazy to rezise the picture ha) and chilling and watching movies.  It was an excellent day.

Thursday, I went to the beach with my sister and then we randomly found a ‘mall’ which wasn’t much of a mall at all, but they DID have an antique store.  For some reason, I’ve been very into anything old lately so I was in heaven.  But my sister wasn’t, so she was rushing me. I found some SUPER awesome old cameras that I wanted to buy but I wasn’t sure if they worked, and there was no staff around to help me anyways.  So we left, but I want to go back with my mom sometime and see if they do.  Though I really need to stop spending money, so it might be best to wait awhile before I go back, ha.

Friday I worked all day again, then came home and sat down all night working on a new project.  It’s taken up most of my computer time lately, but I’m super excited about it and that’s why I haven’t been blogging much.  It’s *almost* done, as in I have the layout all finished, coded and working- I just need to add the pictures (it’s a photography portfolio) and figure out how to display them.  I know how I WANT it to look, but seeing it in my head and figuring out how to do it with coding/wordpress is a whole different story.  I’m sure I will manage somehow though, I’m just not sure how long it will take..

Today I had my family reuinion, which is always fun.  It’s about a two hour drive to my dad’s cousins house, but there’s a beach MINUTES away and so we spend part of the day there.  I didn’t dress up for the superheros theme this year though because I don’t know many superheros (and besides: I was dressed as myself, and I think I’m pretty super) but it was still fun.  I got burnt, of course, though I did put on some sunscreen.  My face is relatively fine (I make sure to put sunscreen on it) but I guess I missed one section of my forehead, so THAT got burnt.  Of course.  The theme for next year is Lets Go Racing, and I am oddly excited for that.  But hey, I was raised in a family of race car drivers…

PS: Today is July 9th, which makes it national Last Kiss Day (in my books) because Taylor Swift Talks about that day in last kiss.  So I’m celebrating by putting the song on repeat, even though it’s a difficult song for me to listen to…

Beach Day

Posted on: June 30, 2011 at 11:52 pm. 2 comments

It’s weird to not HAVE to blog today. It’s just become part of my daily routine, much like my design of the day has. I really don’t know what I’m going to do once that is over, because even though it’s sometimes a HUGE hassle… I’ve gotten so used to it.

Today was a good day. I absolutely LOVE having days off, and the fact that I have another one tomorrow is just wonderful in my mind. It’s Canada Day, so I technically SHOULDN’T have to work anyways, but our store stays open for all holidays. I have worked EVERY HOLIDAY this year, except good friday- because I had to work Easter Sunday. My boss asked me if I could work it, and I said no because I ALWAYS go to the Canada Day fair around the corner from my house. And it’s a holiday, I want a freaking holiday!

The original plan for today was to go to wonderland, but since it’s the thursday of a long weekend.. we decided going on the highway would be a bad idea. My family has passes to a set of conversation parks, so we get in for free so my sister & I went to Valen’s beach. I forced her to come on a photowalk with me, where I took pictures of … everything (some of which I uploaded to my Flickr account). She kept complaining about how long I would take, but she at least sucked it up and didn’t force us to turn back until there was a huge puddle that we couldn’t make it through, haha. My mom & I are hopefully going to Westfield on Sunday though, and maybe some more conservation park hopping to places with waterfalls. We did that once last fall, but that trip ended with a car accident so hopefully this one will have a better ending. And I also didn’t have my Nikon for that one, so I’m super stoked. Geeze, all this time off is quite nice.

After the beach, we went back to the trailer where we went swimming in the pool (because we barely went in the water at the beach; it smelt TERRIBLE) and just layed around waiting for lunch to be done. I ended up getting burnt, of course.. but it doesn’t hurt too bad. My burns this year (and there have already been a few) seem to just last until the next day, then peel a bit and turn into a semi-tan. I usually NEVER tan, but I’m liking it. Though I’m still not dark by any means, haha. I’ll be outside all day again tomorrow, at the Canada Day fair, swimming at my friend’s house, etc. And then fireworks tomorrow night! Which I will of course be taking hundreds of pictures of :)

Oh, while I’m semi on the topic of pictures, does anyone know a good site to upload pictures where people can comment? Flickr is good, but you can only upload 200 if you don’t have a pro account and I’m nearing that 200 limit. Then after that, you can’t see older pictures & that’s annoying, because I don’t want to buy a pro account. I know there’s Deviant Art, but you have to upload those pictures one by one, and I always felt it was more for designs and what not than photography. So if you know of any sites similar to Flickr, let me know!
