2010 Music Review

Somehow, I failed to notice that my last post was post #200 for Lover Dearest. I find it oddly coincidental that it was also the first post of 2011. I’m happy to have made it to 200 posts in just under a year, as at the end of January it will be Lover Dearest’s first birthday 
I opened this site last year on my exam break, and I’m so happy to have kept this blog alive & to have blogged on a mostly continuous level (though I’ve been slacking a bit lately). I’m going to add it to my list of resolutions to keep up with this site, and get it back to the level that it was back in the summer when I blogged more frequently, and not just from the 30 day challenges. I’m going to start working on a new layout for the one year birthday 
In the name of the new year, I’ve done a bit of a 2010 Musical Recap. This is a little late considering the first week of January has basically come and gone, but I figured I’d do a little recap of my 2010 music habits. Most listened to artists, songs, albums, etc. according to Last.Fm (though it was no surprise that Taylor Swift had the top 2 of 3 categories). These are pretty accurate from what I remember, but it’s Last.Fm so it was bound to miss a few, and it’s not including the songs that I’d listen to constantly in my sister’s car (and sing along obnoxiously to). I highly recommend you listen to any/all of these songs, albums & artists because they are the ones that got me through 2010 through some of the best & worst times of the year. I’m sure 2011 will consist of just as much, if not even more Taylor Swift <3

Day 11 – A song from your favorite band
It’s actually kind of hard for me to choose a favourite band. Singer/artist is Taylor Swift no doubt, but since she’s basically all I’ve been listening to for the past month, it’s hard to remember who my FAVOURITE band is. I have quite a few. Let me just search my iTunes for a bit.
Okay, I think I’ll go with Mariana’s Trench. Just because, I saw them live last summer & they’re amazing, and my site is named after one of their songs so there’s a clear love there. So, the song I choose is, Lover Dearest (of course 
)
I didn’t just pick this song because my site is named after it, it’s just such an amazing song from an amazing (canadian!) band. The real meaning behind the song is apparently about his addiction to drugs, but I always relate it to my life + relationship with David.
I, somehow.. have all of next week off work. I work tomorrow 10-6, and then I don’t go back in until Sunday, 10-6. I mean, I like working because of the money but with the amount I worked this week, I’ll get pretty much the same pay check & with the emotional stress I’ve been under, I’m so excited to have the week off to just do WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT.
So I’ll hopefully fix a few things up around the site, give quotetastic a whole new look (it’s turning three on friday!) and just have some me time. I could use some of that.

Baby, You’re a Firework

As you can see, I put up a new layout I designed it mostly this morning before co-op, this afternoon between co-op & school, and then finished it off after school and got around to coding it this evening, in between doing laundry, giving in the the temptation of texting David, and watching Gossip Girl. I like this layout, but not a super duper lot. I might end up changing it in a few weeks, who knows. I feel like it’s too much like my past layouts, just a darker colour. I want to experiment more. I still have a few things to fix up on it, but I just want to get this posted + put it up at my 100th design of the day before midnight.
Day 06 – A song that reminds of you of somewhere
This, is kind of hard. I actually have no idea what song to do. Like, I’m fully stumped on what song reminds me of somewhere. I’m sure there are plenty of songs that do remind me of places, I just can’t actually think of any places to be reminded of. I guess I’ll go with:
It reminds me of work. Weird, but it plays all the time on the radio and the first time I heard it was while I was sitting in the break room at work. I like it
I’m going to go and fix a few things on the layout now, and then put it up as my design of the day. I’ll hopefully get some more updates done on thursday when I have another day off, but I’ll still post tomorow & wednesday as well.

Day 03 – A song that makes you happy
I found this song on the computer in tech class in grade 12, while we were looking for a song for our video. I love it. It just makes me happy. Either this song, or ‘Taking back my love’ by Enrique Iglesais & Ciara.
I’m working on a new layout for the site, though I barely get a lot of time to do so. I’m going out for breakfast with some friends tomorrow as a bunch of people are back from university for the weekend so we’re all getting together. Then I work from 1-9, and I doubt I’ll feel like anything but sleeping when I get home. Sunday I work again 10-6, and then I’ll probably have monday off, but work tuesday. I don’t mind the hours because then I get money, I just hate that all the hours are crammed into the weekends. Oh well, at least I don’t have to get up SUPER early tomorrow.
I have a PA day next friday, which means I don’t have to go to co-op. I’ll probably have to work, but that won’t be until later so I’ll have the morning/afternoon to work on site stuff. I’ve been slacking a lot. Now, I need to sleep because I’ve been slacking in that deparement soon. One day though, I’ll give you all a massive life update.
